Both radio stations in question have covered the recent bushfire disaster on their morning breakfast shows. Whilst both stations have different reporters, both are quite similar when it comes to covering the actual news facts. However, I noticed some slight differences between Tony Eastley (774ABC) and Ross Stevenson (3AW)
774ABC has been known in the AM radio world as a station focused on the hard facts, and sticks to the vintage style reporting. Tony Eastley is no different. On his morning show "AM" following Red Symonds 5:30 "Breakfast" Tony displays a stern and to the point style of reporting whilst commenting on the bushfires. On 3AW, known mostly for its controversial employment of characters such as Rex Hunt, Ross Stevenson seems to take a much more laid back approach when it comes to reading the news. Compared to 774ABC, 3AW is a "Junior" radio station. ABC has been around for many years, and continues to live up to its standards of "The News Capital"
In conclusion, upon comparison of the two news programs, being of young age, i would rather listen to 3AW, as the more casual approach seems to be more appealing to me than long drawn out reports, maybe the odd joke here and there, but for a listener who is more accustomed to hard solid facts without all the casual lingo, i would recomend listening to 774ABC local radio with Tony Eastley.
