The Hot Breakfast with Eddie Mcguire

Being a Carlton supporter, i have a certain disliking of Eddie Mcguire the Collingwood president, but i have a great deal of respect for Eddie Mcguire the Broadcaster. Eddie hosts the new Triple M breakfast show alongside Mieke Buchan, Tony Moclair and good mate Luke Darcy and, from a professionalism point of view, i am yet to see anyone trump Eddie as a broadcaster. The show is incredibly well structured, written and presented with good relations between hosts and delivers a great early morning listen for the Australian workman as 3 out of the 4 hosts come from a sporting background, with Tony Moclair providing the laughs and the quick witted gags. Hiring Eddie back to Triple M was quite possibly the best move Austereo ever made because, while i am a fan of Peter Helliar, he doesnt quite cut it as a radio host and coupled with Myf Warhurst, they created an absoloute vomit pool of a show. "The Hot Breakfast" provides everything you would expect from a breakfast program such as traffic updates, weather and time, as well as a good balance of comedy, sport news and music, with sports personalities guesting regularly. I am yet to hear Eddie say "um" or "Ahh" and i listen to him 3 times a week. The standard of presentation this man provides is second to none and if i can aspire to present on air as well as the hosts of "The Hot Breakfast" i will be a very happy man. Overall, this show is the "Ace up the sleeve" that Triple M was looking for to win back some much needed ratings.

Australias Shock Jocks

If you have access to some form of media such as newspaper, TV or Radio then you have no doubt heard of the controversial figures Kyle Sanilands and Rex Hunt at some point. These two idiots get paid large sums of cash to act like dicks on air and smear their own name in the mud, and they do it oh so well. Kyle Sandilands broadcasts on 2day FM with co-host Jackie Henderson (Jackie-O). The Kyle and Jackie-O show occupies the breakfast slot on Sydneys 2day FM and, wether it be on TV or Radio, Kyle seems to make a major fool of himself whenever the red light comes on. Such dickhead moments include getting into verbal arguments on air, probablly the most unprofessional thing a radio presenter can do, allegedly "cooked the charts" to allow his then girlfriend to get airtime, Threatened to punch comedian Dave Hughes in the throat on an interview program and strapped an 11 year old girl to a lie detector, getting her to admit she was raped for concert tickets. The Kyle and Jackie-O show has been taken off air temporarily and it is all because of this clown digging his own grave and pulling everyone down around him into the pit. Now that my Kyle rant is over, its on to another of Australias dimwitted radio hosts. Rex hunt swims in a pool of controversy, from on air rants to making jokes about airline security, sex scandals and road rage incidents, Rex comes a close close second to Kyle in the idiot department. Although his 3AW show has never been cancelled, Hunt continues to get himself into more hot water and deface the name of 3AW and Austereo.

Roy and HG vs Hamish and Andy

After listening to both of these programs it is clear what the drivetime slot aims to achieve. Wind down the day and make people laugh. Whilst both Roy and HG and Hamish and Andy both target different audiences, they seem to achieve the same goal quite successfully. Hamish and Andy are the renowned "Kings of Drivetime Radio" and its quite easy to see why. Fox FM targets a younger commercial audience and Hamish and Andy, being quite youthful themselves, can relate to their audience and engage them on a level that Roy and HG could not, and that is why Fox Fm's drive slot rates incredibly higher than any other station. However Roy and HG are not without credit. After replacing Will and Lehmo (who's show was as funny as bowel cancer) Roy and HG have bumped up the drivetime ratings on Mondays and Fridays, taking a large chunk of listeners away from Hamish and Andy. Their quick wit and ability to relate to the everyday australian is what makes them the perfect team for Triple M, which aims at the typical aussie bloke who appreciates a good sense of humor.
